People make all sorts of prophecies about the future or have expectations about future events. Many speculate about the future for a living (e.g. political, business, financial analysts, journalists etc) and many do this for interest or fun (e.g. how will one’s sport team do, what is going to happen in politics or who is going to win the Oscars). People, however, generally do not know how good they are at making forecasts due to a lack of clarity of their forecasts, biased recollections, reframing with hindsight etc. This lack of objective assessment and feedback makes both improvement and the assessment / comparison of the quality of people’s forecasts difficult.
Oddprophet provides a solution for the easy and transparent tracking and objective evaluation of forecasts. It’s a platform for prophecies, the content of which is added by the users themselves. Predictions are captured in the form of clear statements about future outcomes including the timeframe the prediction relates to and the user’s opinion about the probability of such a statement being true. The app evaluates prophecies through an objective scoring system, it enables users to share their prophecy, to see others’ and to create channels based on topics or interests. Finally, in addition to evaluating users’ prophecy through the scoring system, the app will compare the users’ performance to other users through rankings and other measures.
